Accommodation
It may be possible to accommodate some items, but it will depend on the room chosen.
Residents are encouraged to bring their own items, keepsakes and photographs to make their rooms feel homely.
Sadly not all of our Main House bedrooms have garden views.
Of course Residents can walk in the gardens on their own (if appropriate) or be escorted by a member of Staff around the gardens using the circular block paved paths to explore all the different aspects of the garden eg. water features, woodland area, vegetable plot, sensory garden etc. There are numerous benches around the garden to rest and take in the views.
All but two of our 36 bedrooms have an en-suite toilet and wash basin. Four of our bedrooms have a shower room and another has a walk-in bath. We have newly refurbished, large bathrooms on the ground and top floors, the ground floor bathroom being a large wet room.
If a loved one is receiving end of life care, we can provide a comfortable space for families to stay with them.
Dining
Absolutely and we work closely with Residents and their families on this matter. All of our kitchen staff are allergen trained and have a good understanding and ability to cater for different dietary requirements.
We have a six week rotating menu with options for each course but Residents are always able to request alternatives.
Breakfast is between 8:30 – 10:00, Lunch is between 12:30 –2:00pm and Dinner is between 4:30pm – 6:00pm. Drinks and snacks are provided between these times.
Facilities & activities
We don’t have our own Physiotherapist in house. However, we can refer to an NHS Community Therapist if required.
Residents enjoy a number of activities at Coxbench Hall including – but not limited to – Exercise classes, Bingo, ‘Knitter Natter’, Quizzes, Games, Film days, use of the Interactive Activity table and Entertainment reminiscence sessions. Residents have regular day trips using our own Minibus and also have external entertainers come into the home to provide shows for the residents including singers, musicians, speakers and story tellers.
Good to know
Yes, but we do encourage people to walk with staff some of the distance if possible to promote and encourage their independence.
We ask families to escort Residents to appointments where possible but are able to provide a staff member if necessary but this service is chargeable.
If a Resident’s GP is based at Appletree Medical Practice or Arthur Medical Centre, yes they can. Otherwise, we will need to transfer a Resident over to Appletree Medical Practice.
Yes, we do. We refer Residents to the District Nurse if they need to see them.
Not to live in. Dogs can come to visit but we do conduct visit a risk assessment before allowing dogs into the Home.
We have fish in a tank in our Walk Through Lounge, an Avery on the patio in the garden and fish in our garden ponds. Our activities programme also includes visits from small animals/creatures handlers -for example: Nesta’s Ark – and we watched chrysalis grow into butterflies within the home in 2020.
Absolutely yes and this is noted on their Care Plan so staff are aware of individual’s preferences.
We ask families to provide toiletries but if requested, we can provide them and add the cost onto the Resident’s account.
Visiting
We ask that visitors avoid mealtimes but otherwise, visitors are welcome throughout the day. In addition, visitors can join a resident for a meal, subject to prior arrangement and for a small fee. On the last Friday of every month (apart from December), a themed dinner is held for our Residents who are encouraged to invite one or two guests of their own for a meal of 3-4 courses with drinks and live entertainment. Guests are charged a small fee to attend.
