At Coxbench Hall Residential Care Home, creating a welcoming, joyful environment is at the heart of everything the team does. While high-quality care is always the top priority, the team consistently go above and beyond in ways that truly brighten residents’ days. One of the most beloved traditions? Monthly themed meals where the team not only prepares a special menu—but also dresses up to match the theme.

From tropical Hawaiian luaus and 1920s Gatsby glamour to cozy Christmas dinners and excellent easter feasts, the care home transforms into a different world for each occasion. Residents enjoy not just delicious, themed meals, but a full immersive experience filled with decorations, music, and cheerfully costumed staff.

“It’s all about making the residents smile,” says Cat (Senior Care Assistant), who often leads the charge with creative costume ideas and hands-on participation. “Seeing their faces light up when they walk into the dining room—it makes it all worthwhile.”
The initiative began back when the home first opened 40 years ago. The idea that we would bring the restaurant to the residents in the comfort of their own home. Since then countless themes every month have been brought to life in the home.
“The staff are wonderful. They make everything so fun, and it really lifts our spirits. I really hope when they get to my age they have someone like them to entertain them like they do for us” says Beryl (a long term resident).

Themed meals also provide an opportunity for reminiscence and connection. Whether it’s “Back to School” or “70s Flower Power”, the themes often spark meaningful conversations, laughter, and shared memories.
In a setting where routine and comfort are essential, these special events are a beautiful reminder that creativity and care can go hand in hand. At Coxbench Hall, it’s clear the team doesn’t just look after their residents—they celebrate life with them.
