We recently sought resident’s and staff’s opinion on the sample wallpapers stuck up on the lounge wall for the “Library” look and the arched wall in the Dining room and Hook room. The lounge has already been transformed with the “Library” feature wall and following the repair of the roof above the arched wall, that wall will be papered in the near future. We hope that you like the new view in the lounge and look forward to the Dining room and Hook room refurbishment. We have already fitted a new blackboard in the Dining Room to display the menu for the day’s Lunch and Tea, together with artwork of the scribe on some days!
As many of you will be aware, we have ordered new blinds for the Conservatory which are due to be fitted next month. The fitting will take place over 2 days and so we ask that you bear with us whilst this takes place. The new design will help keep the glare of the sun out, but not the light completely, keep the room cool in summer and warm in winter.
Our stock of crafts and games for residents has expanded beyond the capacity of the activities cupboard situated off the Dining Room. Accordingly, we now stock crafts in that cupboard, jigsaws in the cupboard in the Hook Room between the radiator and the glasses cabinet on the wall and games in the sideboard with the fish tank on top in the Walk Through lounge. If you would like to undertake any crafts, games or jigsaws please feel free to get any of those out or ask a member of staff to do so for you.
Maintenance Report
Fire System
Work will be completed shortly on the new addressable fire system. There has been a delay in getting the parts due to the knock-on effect of the Grenfell Tower disaster and a lot of demand for parts, however, these have now been obtained.
The fire panel will be set back into the wall in the entrance foyer and that panel will identify the room that the sensor has gone off rather than the zone as the previous system did. This will enable the staff to identify where the problem is and react much quicker, thereby enhancing
safety for our residents.
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service undertook an inspection visit here at the end of September 2019 and reported to us that we “have a reasonable standard of fire safety evident and they decided that the premises are not a high risk”. The Officers attending were pleased to familiarise themselves with the premises as they had not been called out here for a long time and therefore wondered whether any changes had been made which would affect what they would have to do in the event of a fire. They confirmed to us, that there was not.
