Recovery with Rita: A Success Story

Here’s the story of how Rita decided to stay at Coxbench Hall after just one hour.

After just one hour of being at Coxbench Hall on her free day visit, Rita decided that she wanted to move in. Rita had settled in so quickly, she soon decided that Coxbench Hall is where she would like to make her temporary home whilst recovering from a broken shoulder. This would also allow the family to get some well-deserved rest after they had been caring for Rita so well. All the family supported Rita in her decision and thoroughly enjoyed coming to visit her and watch her progress so well with the excellent care that the team provided.

We were thrilled to say that we were able to help Rita, therefore without hesitation Rita and her family began to move her belongings into her chosen room. Being able to bring home comforts such as her own electric bed and recliner chair, Rita soon started to feel at home.

With the help and support of the team, Rita completed her exercises and encouraged her to join in with activities. At first, Rita did find it difficult to join in and spent quite a lot of time in her room. But after just 1 week, Rita started to engage with other residents well and enjoyed the company during mealtimes so much, she decided to stay in the lounges with some of her new friends.

Over the next few weeks, Rita got stronger and stronger and started to go outside in the gardens for walks with her family and the team, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

After the all clear from the hospital that Rita’s shoulder had made a full recovery, Rita and her family began to discuss the possibilities of returning home. The family had seen how much Rita had begun to thrive at Coxbench Hall which made for a difficult decision. Ultimately, Rita and her family decided that Rita would return home now that she was strong enough again to live safely at home.

We could not be happier that Rita has now gone back home after a few months of living in a safe, secure, and encouraging environment. With the help and support of the Coxbench Hall team during this time, it has enabled Rita to recover as well as gain the strength and confidence to go back home.

Rita’s story shows just how a supportive and caring environment can assist in recovery and result in being able to go home once again.

We wish Rita all the best living back home and will be here to support her again if needed.
